Glass Pool House with Curved Glass

Glass Walled Gym and Pool House With Curved Glass and Sliding Doors

This glass pool house was designed to create a calm, tranquil design using both architectural glazing and slim framed sliding door solutions. The large, fully glazed building is wrapped in sliding glass door systems on every elevation, offering multiple access points to merge indoor and outdoor environments.

Surrounded by fields of undisturbed nature, the glass pool house uses both straight and curved structural glass panes to create a unique design that maximises views of the surrounding landscape. Slim framed sliding door solutions were specified to create entire walls of moving glass, thanks to their extremely minimal design with sightlines of just 21mm. The flush threshold detail of the large sliding systems allows indoor and outdoor areas to be fully merged when the weather permits, creating an indoor-outdoor style of living.

Oversized glazing surrounds the indoor swimming pool and the specification of the glazing was carefully considered to ensure its suitability for the marine environment. When aluminium glazing systems are used in close proximity to swimming pools, they are exposed to harsh chemicals in the air and must be finished to a marine grade standard to create glazing solutions that are long lasting and durable.

The slim aluminium profile of the sliding doors were pre-anodized before the marine grade polyester powder coating was applied, and all glazing was specified with a low maintenance coating on the inner face to reduce the necessary cleaning frequency.

The slim framed sliding door systems used in the glass pool house have been installed in a number of bespoke sliding configurations, including an opening corner where the large panes slide away from the corner junction to reveal a floating roof effect. The flat roof has been designed with a wide overhang, offering solar shading to the architectural glazing and reducing solar glare inside the glass pool house.

Where slim framed sliding doors have been used in conjunction with structural glass walls, the neat silicone joins between panes of glass create a coherent design with the slim aluminium profiles of the moving panes. When the weather permits, the indoor pool can be transformed into an outdoor swimming experience by simple opening the sliding glass doors to create a highly ventilated space.

The interior design within the glass pool house has been kept extremely minimal and contemporary, with a neutral colour palette for the few pieces of furniture that are featured. The space is both practical and stunning, with uninterrupted views from every angle of the internal space. The main advantage of using glass as a building material is the amount of natural light that can flow through the space, creating a light and airy atmosphere whilst forging a strong connection to the outdoor environment and nature.
