ToggleCurved Sliding Glass Doors in Modern Architecture
Curved sliding glass doors make a bold architectural statement. Unlike traditional straight-line doors, their graceful curves create a sense of flow and movement, breaking away from the rigid geometries typically found in perspective building designs.
These Curved Siding Doors soften the transition between spaces, providing a smooth visual flow that enhances the overall aesthetic of the structure.
One of the most significant advantages of curved sliding glass doors is their ability to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor environments. Their expansive glass panels offer unobstructed panoramic views, inviting natural light into the space and creating a harmonious connection with the surrounding landscape. This is particularly beneficial in luxury residences, beachfront properties, and high-end commercial spaces, where the natural environment is a key design element.
Luxury Design
Curved sliding glass doors are increasingly popular in luxury homes, where they serve as the focal point of living rooms, dining areas, or master suites. These doors open up to patios, gardens, or balconies, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. They are also used in circular or oval-shaped rooms, adding to the uniqueness of the space.
With 4m track radius, maximum and 2 track configuration, freeway base which steps up above floor level, our unique minimal framed curved sliding doors are the perfect finish to any residential project.
For strength, durability, and energy efficiency, high-performance materials like tempered or laminated glass are frequently utilised to create the glass panels that make up a glass facade. These panels often sit inside of an aluminium or steel frame, which offers structural support and makes the process of installation and maintenance simple.
Maximising Space
Curved sliding glass doors can be customised to fit the unique contours of a building, making them ideal for non-linear spaces. Whether following the curve of a façade or creating a circular room, these doors maximize space usage while maintaining functionality. Their sliding mechanism also ensures that the door takes up minimal space when open, unlike traditional hinged doors that require a larger footprint. building.
The glass panels in a structural glass facade system are typically made of tempered or laminated glass, which was chosen for its durability and safety characteristics. Using bolts, specialised point-fixing systems or high-strength adhesives, these panels are secured to the building. The connections are intended to transfer structural stresses from the glass panels to the building’s steel or concrete columns and beams, especially wind and weight loads.
IQ International were contracted to manufacture and install 2 levels of structural glass to create a home which is dominated by glazing. Villa Schilde located in Belgium is a modern home complete with Glass Facades, Slim sliding doors, glass balustrades and other glazing features. The building seems as if it is being wrapped around the glazing due to the large curve towards the left side of the building. This gives the desired effect that the glass is the main structural element of the project.
Natural Light Enhancement:
The expansive glass surfaces of our Curved sliding doors allow natural light to flood your interiors, creating bright, welcoming spaces that blur the lines between indoors and outdoors.
As well as allowing natural light through, the curved design also allows for efficient use of space, making them perfect for both compact areas and expansive interiors. These doors glide smoothly along their curved track, offering easy access without the need for traditional swinging doors.
