ToggleSpecialist Structural Glazing in the Caribbean since 2012
IQ Glass have been successfully completing projects in the Caribbean since 2012.
Following various successful glazing projects, we are now looking to increase the amount of work we conduct throughout the Caribbean islands. Our technical sales team will be visiting the islands from 16th October 2023 to 20th October 2023 to meet with select architects and developers.
IQ and the Caribbean. Our story.
IQ began working in the Caribbean for some of our UK clients and architects who wanted to mirror the high-quality glazing they had seen in the UK on their properties and developments in the Caribbean. IQ worked closely with the architects, developers and clients of these buildings to provide a full architectural glazing sub-contract to these buildings.
Now, having fostered some strong relationships with developers on the islands, IQ are looking to meet more specifiers working in high end property who may want to put forward our high quality, European glazing solutions on their projects.
IQ specialise in minimalist glazing; maximising glass faces and minimising framework to create bespoke glazing that captures views. We are the exclusive partner of the Keller minimal windows sliding door systems and have over 20 years experience in frameless structural glass designs.
Select Projects
IQ worked with UK based architects Michalis Boyd to provide the bespoke glazing to the luxury villas as part of the Sugar Beach Hotel on the island. The installation was undertaken by the local developer with one IQ installation supervisor in attendance throughout the project.
The glazing design included large sets of sliding glass doors set within the local timber structure. These sliding glass doors provide access from the villas to the private pools and patio areas, overlooking the sea.
Located in St James on the west coast of Barbados sits Avalon Villa. This is a bespoke home designed by Barbadian architects Elements Architecture. The owner from the UK wanted to ensure that the glazing used on the project was of the quality he wanted and instructed Elements to work with IQ for the glazing design.
The bespoke home includes vast expanses of slim framed sliding glass doors mixed with fixed frameless glass along the coastal facing elevation, merging the interior and exterior spaces into one living environment.
Hibbert Villa in Barbados
Located within the Royal Westmoreland resort, Hibbert Villa looks over the Barbados landscape towards the Caribbean Sea. This was another successful project with Elements Architecture where IQ provided our slim framed sliding glass doors for the bespoke build.
Albany, Bahamas
This highly exclusive villa is located within the Albany region of New Providence, Bahamas. The home was for a high-profile client and included various automated sliding glass doors with ultra slim sightlines and hurricane resistant certification across all the glazing to meet the stringent Miami Dade requirements.
Hurricane Resistance / Miami Dade
Our slim framed sliding glass doors have been successfully tested and certified for hurricane resistance under the TAS testing guidelines, allowing the system to be specified in hurricane prone areas.
The system was fully tested for cyclic wind forces, driving rain and projectiles to showcase its ability to protect buildings against these tropical storms.
Even with this exceptionally high level of weather rating, the system still maintains a 26mm vertical sightline with floor to ceiling glass.
Marine Grade Finishes
All our PPC finishes are of marine grade quality as standard (over 50 microns) however, for projects located in marine environments we always recommend an enhanced level of frame protection. Aluminium frames should be pre-anodised and them applied with a marine grade PPC. Steel frames to create an industrial timeless design should be stainless steel as a base material with a marine grade PPC on top.
