Oversized Triple Glazed, Floor to Ceiling Sliding Glass Doors in Australian Coastal Home
The brief for this stunning rebuild project was to connect the stunning Australian coastal home to the surrounding nature by utilising minimally framed and frameless architectural glazing solutions.
In order to maximise the views and allow a huge influx of natural light into the home, minimal windows® oversized sliding glass doors were specified as the ultra-slim sightlines cause minimal disruption to light or views.
Sustainability was a significant consideration in this home’s design. To be able to create a building with a highly thermally insulating building envelope, every aspect must achieve high thermal performance levels, and with the glazing forming most of the home’s walls, this was especially important.
This is why the minimal windows® 4+ triple glazed sliding glass door system was an ideal option, with Uw values as low as 0.8W/m2K. All minimal windows® glass door systems have high thermal performance with Low-E coating as standard.
Deeper framing profiles use for the 4+ sliding system allow for a deeper thermal break helping to lower the Uw value. Aluminium framing profiles should be the go-to for any sustainable building design due to their highly recyclable nature.
The bespoke sliding glass doors were designed and installed by IQ. With such specific project requirements, bespoke glazing was a necessity to ensure both performance and aesthetic desires.
The head and base profiles of the framing system were concealed within the building finishes, creating a completely flush threshold base detail for smooth transitions between the spaces. The ultra-slim sliding glass doors were motorised to be able to control the doors easily, even at 500kg per pane.
Oversized moving glass walls give this luxury seaside home a strong connection to nature, even when closed the 26mm sightlines allow the occupants to feel as though they’re outside.
This ultra-slim thermal break framing adds more natural light into the internal living spaces than other not slim framed door systems. This natural light highlights all interior designs. The minimal windows® framing also creates stunning landscape views that can be seen from any location of the house.
the large triple glazed sliding doors were part of a large bespoke glazing package which also included glass balustrades, casement doors and windows, among other glazing solutions.
Frameless glass balustrades create a safety barrier on the upper levels without disturbing the views or the flow of natural light. High-performance aluminium casement doors provide access to the pool area from the basement level and casement windows provide natural light.
