Oversized Sliding Glass Doors Create Indoor-Outdoor Living in This Luxury Villa
This contemporary villa benefitted from a bespoke glazing package to create an indoor-outdoor style of living, including multiple sets of oversized sliding glass doors. The slim framed sliding glass doors were specified in various configurations, including two and three pane designs to maximise the natural light that floods the interior design.
Bespoke sliding door systems were chosen for the luxury villa to enhance the modern design, combining slim aluminium profiles in a pale bronze colour with a neutral colour palette. The floor to ceiling oversized sliding glass doors were installed with completely flush thresholds to allow indoor and outdoor environments to be fully merged and the base and head frames were concealed within the building finishes for a fully glazed effect.
The luxury villa features a narrow swimming pool that wraps around the building, accessed via the sliding glass doors from the main living area. In the main living space, oversized sliding glass doors run along two elevations of the room, creating entire walls of moving glass. When closed, the ultra slim sightlines of the minimal windows® sliding doors offer just 21mm vertical profiles, allowing light and views to flow through the space.
The open plan layout seen throughout the interior design creates a light, breezy atmosphere and this is enhanced further by the frame finish of the glass door systems, creating a coherent design throughout both the interior and exterior of the property. On the upper floors, where privacy is required, the oversized sliding glass doors have been paired with external louvre systems that create a built-in vertical shading solution without completely blocking the light.
Frameless glass balustrades have been paired with the minimal windows® sliding door systems to maintain a fully glazed design whilst acting as a safety barrier on the private balcony areas. A glass balustrade has been integrated within the internal face of the oversized sliding glass doors in the upstairs living area, allowing the doors to be opened without posing a safety risk to the occupants.
