Pocket sliding doors are large-format glazed systems whose panels disappear into wall cavities, leaving the opening completely clear. Our pocketing solutions pair ultra-slim aluminum frames with a flush threshold and integrated drainage, with optional invisible-frame detailing at the base (or at all outer edges) to conceal the frame. Engineered for coastal and high-wind locations across the U.S. and Caribbean, they deliver the openness of a bifold with none of the visible stack.

Design & Benefits of Pocket Sliding Doors

Pocket sliders deliver clear openings when retracted and near-frameless glazing when closed. Long sightlines maximize daylight and strengthen the inside-outside connection. Detailing stays disciplined: minimal profiles with optional invisible-frame detailing, continuous floor finishes from interior to exterior, and finishes to Qualicoat directives with specialist options such as stainless steel or architectural bronze. Systems are fully tested for weather resistance, including wind-driven rain, and coastal projects can specify low-maintenance glass coatings to reduce upkeep in salt-laden air.

Our flush threshold sits on the structural slab so interior and exterior finishes run level across the track; drainage is integrated into the base frame to manage heavy rain. For an even cleaner look, an invisible-frame option can conceal the base track or all outer edges. Sliding actions use expertly engineered steel mechanisms for quiet, low-friction movement; operation may be manual or automated depending on project requirements.

Performance for U.S. & Caribbean Projects

Every installation of pocket sliding doors is engineered for site exposure and local building code requirements. The system is PAS24 certified for security, and hurricane-resistant configurations are available for Florida HVHZ jurisdictions tested to TAS protocols. Thermal performance with double glazing achieves a U-factor of ≈ 0.205 BTU/h·ft²·°F. Double- and triple-glazed options, plus specialty coatings such as solar-control and low-maintenance, are available to meet climate and comfort targets.

FAQs

Can I pocket into an existing wall?
Sometimes. New builds and major remodels are ideal. For retrofits we check wall depth, head structure, and whether the threshold/drainage zone can be rebuilt for a flush base.

How much wall depth does the pocket need?
Plan one cavity per moving leaf with allowance for tolerances; we confirm exact allowances on drawings.

Are flush thresholds reliable in heavy rain?
Yes, when detailed correctly with a flush threshold and integrated base drainage as specified.

Will the pocket collect dirt or water?
Integrated drainage at the base of pocket sliding doors manages water; cover caps slide with the pocket doors, meaning that nothing can get behind this into the pocket.

Is this suitable for hurricane/coastal zones?
Yes. We provide hurricane-resistant packages under Florida HVHZ/TAS; finishes and coatings are available for marine environments.

Can it be automated?
Yes. Automation is an available option; we coordinate controls to suit the project.

Configurations & Corners

Layouts are tailored to the architecture. Single-sided pocket sliding doors clear to one end; biparting pockets meet centrally then retreat left and right; multi-panel pocket sliders can open very wide spans. At corners, both elevations can retreat into perpendicular pockets to remove the post entirely, turning the junction into one seamless opening. Angled corners from 65° to 177° are feasible; we set geometry, clearances, and pocket depth early so movement is smooth and the opening reads as one space.
