What are open corner sliding doors?

Open corner sliding doors are large-format glazed systems that remove the fixed corner post so two glass elevations can slide away, leaving the corner completely open for a single, seamless opening.

IQ Glass International designs and engineers open corner systems for high-performance residential and commercial projects. The design focus is simple: dissolve the boundary at the corner, preserve sightlines, and maintain envelope performance in demanding locations, including coastal and hurricane-prone regions.

Minimal frames and flexible geometry

Ultra-slim aluminum profiles create near-frameless elevations. Open corner sliding doors configurations are tailored to the plan, with large-format panels engineered for smooth, reliable operation. Flush or recessed thresholds with integrated drainage support level transitions. Typical designs deliver about 13/16 inch interlocks, heights up to 19 ft 8 in, and corner angles from 65° to 177°.

Performance and certification

Thermally broken aluminum profiles and high-spec insulated glass units deliver envelope performance in real weather. U-factor from ~0.21 BTU/hr·ft²·°F is achievable with double-pane units; triple-pane options are available for lower targets. Systems are certified for Florida HVHZ under the Florida Building Code and tested to TAS 201 (impact), TAS 202 (structural), and TAS 203 (cyclic pressure). Air, water, and structural performance is verified to the relevant standards.

Security, automation, and integration

Enhanced-security configurations are available; project-specific security testing can be coordinated on request. Open corner sliding doors can be manual or motorized. Hardware is concealed and can be coordinated with access-control or smart-home platforms for dependable operation.

Materials and finishes

Factory powder-coated aluminum in any color (RAL or custom match); specialist options include stainless steel and architectural bronze. Internally, an optional wood interlocker is available in Oak, Walnut, Larch, Maple, Norway Maple, Cherry, or Teak. Glass options include solar-control and low-maintenance coatings, plus heated glass where required.

Design flexibility and detailing

Open corner sliding doors layouts can be combined with pocket sliding to clear the opening completely. Curved sliders are available on a bi-rail system. Juliet-balcony solutions and hybrid compositions with fixed structural glazing keep a consistent language across the elevation. For a fully minimal expression, invisible-frame detailing and stepped-glass base designs conceal outer frames and tracks for a continuous floor finish. Stainless-steel base tracks can be specified for drive-on loads in garages and showrooms. The same design family includes vertical sliding sash, pivot, and tilt-and-turn openings.
